We will be meeting on Zoom to welcome guest speaker Erin Bormett. As Erin describes,
After getting a Ranger Rick Magazine subscription at 8 years old, I wanted to be a photographer. As I got older, that morphed into a desire to tell stories through visuals, and I was set on the course of becoming a photojournalist. I earned a photojournalism degree from the University of Missouri and have bounced around quite a bit, working at various internships and jobs around the Midwest and one semester abroad.
At age 24, I have already experienced so many things I never thought I would. I had a grizzly bear’s head in my lap while documenting research in Wyoming, became one of the only voices nationally reporting on the Indigenous protest at Mount Rushmore during Trump’s 4th of July visit, assisted a National Geographic photographer with a cover story in Arizona and so much more. I’ll hit a few of the highlights of my (admittedly very young) career both from an experience standpoint as well as some of my best visuals. I’m excited to share a bit from behind the lens with you!
